Academy Overview for 22/23

Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a great summer! We are really looking forward to welcoming/welcoming back all the Dalkey United Academy children to the all-weather pitch in Castle Park School.  Sessions will be held on Saturday mornings as per last season commencing on Saturday 3rd September.

PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR RETURNING 2017 CHILDREN THE TIME HAS CHANGED AND THE SESSION WILL BE HELD AT 9 am.

Times are as follows:

  1. 2018, 2017 and 2016 children commence at 9am. Finish time for 2017 and 2018 is 9.45am. For 2016 it is 9.50am.
  • 2015 children commence at 10am and end at 11am.

Just a few organisational updates:

1.     Please have your child pitch side a few minutes before the allocated start time so that they are ready to commence training promptly on the hour. Training will finish on time and we will need the children to leave the pitch area promptly. When training is over, we would ask you to promptly bring your child to your car so that large groups do not congregate pitch side.

2.     As usual shin pads are a necessity. Astro boots or runners can be worn on the pitch, but not studded boots.

3.     If your child brings a water bottle, hat or top that they might take off, please ensure that they are clearly labelled and taken home again.

4.     Please make sure your child goes to the toilet before training.

5.     One adult per child can remain pitch side during training.

6.     There is going to be a lot of traffic in the car park as various football and swimming groups come and go – please give yourself lots of time to drop and collect your child and be extra vigilant in the car park as children frequently walk between cars.

7.     No dogs please. Castle Park operates a strict no dogs policy.

8.     Please also do not walk onto the grass area in front of the school as it will set off an alarm. Non-adherence will result in the club receiving letters of admonishment from Castle Park school.

We do like getting parents involved in the Dalkey United Academy. So, if any of you fancy giving coaching a go you would be most welcome. You do not need any experience – just plenty of enthusiasm and energy. It’s great fun and mothers are in particular welcome. If you would like to give it a try, please just contact any of the coaching team.

Finally, just a reminder we will only be able to accept children who have registered with Dalkey United for the new season via the “Easy Payments” system on the club website www.dalkeyunited.ie

To allow time to process all registrations, allocate children into pods and update WhatsApp groups for the individual year groups, registration for the commencement of the Academy this Saturday 3 September will not be available any later than 12 noon on Thursday 1 September. Please also note that we cannot accept unregistered children who turn up on Saturday morning even if your child played last year – you need to re-register your child for the new season via the Easy Payments system. Space permitting, we may re-open registrations on Monday 5 September again for admission to subsequent sessions.

Roll on Saturday 3rd September!  We can’t wait to see everyone back for football!

Best regards,

The DUAFC Academy Coaches
