Garda Vetting
It is a statutory requirement under the National Vetting Act (Children and Vulnerable Persons) 2012 to 2016, that all individuals, volunteers or paid, working with Children and Vulnerable Persons have completed Garda vetting clearance before engaging with an Organisation or services.

How to apply for Garda Vetting:
Note: If you are under 18, please contact the Child Welfare Officer directly before beginning the Garda Vetting process.
- Please download, print, and complete Section 1 of the Garda Vetting ID Validation Form.pdf
- Please check the list of acceptable ID documentation and ensure you have the minimum of 100 points.
- Once you have completed the form and have your ID ready, please contact the Child Welfare Officer to arrange signing of your form
- You can then submit your application via the FAI My Comet website https://faiconnect.ie/mycomet/
- Please ensure you complete all steps in the Garda Vetting process and read all emails carefully.
- Once you have been cleared for Garda Vetting, please forward a copy of your FAI Letter of Clearance to the clubs Child Welfare Officer.
FAI Child Safeguarding 1 Course:
- All coaches and volunteers working with children and vulnerable people in the club must complete
Child Safeguarding 1.
- This course can only be completed after the Garda Vetting process is complete.
- Online courses are run regularly by the FAI.
- You can apply by logging in to your FAI My Comet account and clicking on “Events”. Select Child Safeguarding 1 on a date that is convenient.
- Once you have completed the course, you will be issued with a Certificate which should be forwarded to the clubs Child Welfare Officer.
