Update: Hyde Park Redevelopment Approved

hyde park redevelopment

Dalkey United AFC is delighted to announce that approval for a flagship redevelopment of facilities at Hyde Park in Dalkey has been received, following a vote by county councillors of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council (DLRCC) to grant full planning permission for the project.

The redevelopment of the facilities is a collaboration between Cuala GAA, Dalkey United AFC and DLRCOCO to provide modern, state of the art sports facilities for the use of thousands of children and adults that play team sports with both clubs and within the wider community.

Dalkey United AFC will occupy a section of the new building with new changing rooms, a large meeting room and a kitchenette. This section will have its own access. The club will also have access to all the other facilities in the development, including a sports hall and gym.

“We are seeing a huge increase in children who want to be active in team sports and play with Dalkey United. These new facilities will help them develop their soccer skills, and their social skills. It will advance our plans for the future of the club. The news today is very welcome indeed. We are very grateful to our neighbours in St. Begnet’s Villas, Hyde Road and Hyde Park for their constructive input and engagement with the project throughout. We now have planning permission to build an outstanding facility for current and future generations of Dalkey United and Cuala players and we look forward to engaging with DLRCoCo, the local community, businesses and our members as we take this project forward.”

Dara Marnell, Chairperson Dalkey United FC

The project aims to deliver Ireland’s first LEED Gold Accredited sports facility, which will be built to a BER A2 standard as part of its wider green and sustainable footprint.

The costs associated with the project are substantial and as well as funding from government sources we will also need significant local financial support. Dalkey United will seek a meeting with its members in the Autumn to plot a way forward.
